KARACHI: Rangers Sunday morning in a targeted search operation in different areas of Lyari Town rounded up several persons and recovered weapons and drugs from them, Geo News reported.
While the residents of the affected areas staged protest at Lea market Chowk against the Rangers operation.
Sources said that Rangers launched targeted operation in different areas of Lyari, which included Rexer lane, Nawa Lane, Kalakot, Chakiwara, Baghdadi, Nayaabad and surrounding areas.
Heavy contingent of Rangers sealing the exit/entry roads conducted search operation. Several persons including two involved in the murder of two policemen and other heinous crimes were arrested and weapons and drugs were recovered from them, while one torture cell was also found. The persons taken into custody have been shifted to an unknown place.
On the other hand, the residents of the areas staged protests against operation and blocked the roads by torching tyres, however, they dispersed on arrival of the Rangers.
